The golden rule of post-fitness skin care is this: GTFO of your sweaty clothes as soon as possible. Exercising your dirty sport can lead to all kinds of health problems, including acne on your feet (which, unlike “maskne” or “buttne” causes not they even have a cute shorthand. Legne; Lacne; No.) But sometimes, showering immediately after sweating is not an option – and then Kate Somerville Exfolikate ($ 56) – a new body scrub from a much-loved brand – completely saves the day.

Let me paint a picture: My skin is the very definition of sensitive. If can Look the wrong way, i’m sure i’m going to break out – so wearing my shorts or leggings after a run is usually a big ‘no’. However, sometimes life is just out of my control: I have to go to a Zoom meeting or answer a few emails, and before I know it, I sit sweaty for an hour and, eh, λακνα, he is already conspiring to get me.

That’s when Exfolikate comes in. Kate Somerville’s team created Exfolikate to include all three types of exfoliation: natural, chemical and enzymatic. That is, the product removes dead skin, smoothes small bumps and imperfections and leaves your skin fresher and more radiant after washing. And, like many exfoliators, it’s a strict program: You only need to use it three times a week for three minutes to see serious results.

Exfolikate achieves all this with a fairly simple list of ingredients. The product contains salicylic acid (chemical exfoliator to fight acne) and lactic acid (which speeds up the cell cycle, which helps fade acne scars.) It also contains other exfoliators such as caffeine, pumice and pumpkin enzymes, which work together. to give the skin a radiant shine that lasts long after rinsing.

That said, Exfolikate does not just scrub your skin and leave it raw and dry, as other natural exfoliators are to blame. It also contains moisturizing honey, aloe and soy extract to repair the skin barrier after all these exfoliators have cleaned the house. This aloe moisturizes the skin and mitigates the effects of all kinds of skin conditions, including acne, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. However, if you are experiencing any of these skin conditions, it is best to consult your dermatologist before adding a new exfoliator to your skin care program.

Now for the feel of the product: Exfolikate has a grainy texture and a bright green tint to Elphaba’s skin color Bad. When you apply it in the shower, it becomes rough and viscous — the most satisfying exfoliating texture, IMO. Apply it all over your body (avoiding any sensitive areas) and do your best not to rinse it off while you wait for three whole minutes. Then all you have to do is rinse. Voila! Your skin is refreshed and you should feel much softer.

I have been using this formula three times a week for a little over a month now, and while my legs have not completely disappeared, I have noticed that I have fewer outbreaks. Especially after I wore my leggings for a while very long. It has also cleared some of the other acne on my body (shout out the pimples on my chest), so this is also a huge win. Now, if I could work on all this “shower right after training” …
