I have hooded eyelids that I know will lower as I get older, which means that even in my 20s I already have superficial forehead and eye area. My mom, who shares this feature, feels that her eyelids have lowered so much that she can not play with eye makeup in the same way she played … something that the beauty editor inside me would like to avoid at all sacrifice.

Although I know that the aging process is inevitable (and it is definitely much better than the alternative!), I want to put its visible signs on hold for as long as possible, which means that prevention in my most vulnerable areas is over the mind when I make a skin care routine.

I noticed that my eyelids were less covered when I raised my eyebrows, so I decided to try the SiO Browlift patch ($ 30) to see if I could fake an eyebrow lift at home.

How FaceLift patches work

If you do not sleep perfectly on your back all night, it is possible to hit your face with your hand or pillow. This creates folds and lines that break down the collagen and elastin fibers in the skin and can cause wrinkles over time. SiO patches – which come in a number of different forms for use on different parts of your body, including your chest, forehead, eyes and lips – keep your skin taut and in place so you can not stretch it. knock in your sleep. Keeping the skin and its underlying muscles in place to smooth or prevent dynamic wrinkles (those caused by movement) is also how neurotransmitters like Botox work.

“Botox works by preventing dynamic wrinkles by temporarily weakening the underlying muscle,” Dendy Engelman, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York, told Well + Good. “With Botox treatment, muscle contraction is weakened and the overlying dynamic wrinkle is reduced. And with timely and effective treatment, it can not only reduce dynamic lines with movement, but also soften or eliminate static lines.” These patches will not offer the same long-term muscle freezing power as Botox, but will allow you to take advantage of a similar but temporary immobility.

The patches are made of medical grade silicone, so in addition to keeping your muscles in place, they also help prevent transdermal water loss. Translation: prevent your skin from losing its natural moisture. When your skin is full and hydrated, fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable. Each patch works for up to ten uses, so you can continue to reuse them to see increasing results over time.

How to use the SiO Browlift Patch

Following the instructions on the package, I washed my face, dried it completely and then applied the patch without applying any skin care products. I immediately noticed that I could not really move my forehead – which was not uncomfortable, just a little weird. I quickly forgot that the patch was still there.

I admittedly was a little worried that using the patches meant I had to skip the standard skin care routine. My skin is dry and if it does not get a good dose of moisture, it immediately starts to feel tight and thirsty within minutes of cleansing. To my surprise, however, thanks to the patch’s moisture-sealing abilities, when I woke up the next morning my skin did not feel as dry and creepy as I expected. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. This way, I can alternate them with my usual retinol, creams and oils to get the best out of both worlds.

After I slept on the SiO patches, my skin did not look any different from the night before, which was to be expected. While these patches promise to show an immediate difference, this is only if you have dynamic lines that you want to smooth out. I will continue to play with them and use them before events and night outs for a quick smoothing treatment. For me, using these patches is more of a thick, preventative step that I’m more than happy to watch.
