While I’m really in love with the whole Avène line (the French pharmacy brand is a big part of my personal product line), an unsuspecting serum came out of the left field and is now part of my morning and evening skincare routine: Hydrance INTENSE Rehydrating Serum ($ 38).
I never thought a moisturizing serum would be such a cornerstone of my facial hygiene, but here we are. Avène thermal water – the magic fountain of youth in France – makes this moisturizing serum a powerful filter that enhances the effects of all my other skin care products (more in a minute). Soothes my skin for retinol treatments, fades deeply so that my other sera can be absorbed more effectively and leaves a cool, vibrant glow on my skin. Light but intensely moisturizing, not greasy at all. I bring it with me on planes and on any of my high altitude mountain trips. is the perfect treatment for dry, tight, uncomfortable skin between the PM and MM routine.
As noted, most of its superpowers come from clinically studied prebiotic water from the Avène spring in France, but these results are reinforced by a “patented lipid trio” called Cohederm, which is said to help “restore” cohesive barrier and in preventing water loss. ”
The real magic trick, as mentioned, is the ability of this serum to make all the rest of my skin care even more effective. Skin moisture levels affect absorption. By hydrating the skin, you allow other products in your routine to penetrate deeper into the stratum corneum.
“The most common skin targets are hydration and moisture, and for good reason,” says board-certified dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD. “Moisturized skin actually absorbs the product more efficiently, because hydrated skin is rejuvenated and healthy. “Dry, flaky skin can block the absorption of your product.”
My dry πέαου drink it immediately, but even if you have oily skin, it could act as a light moisturizer. It also has the seal of approval. “I love this serum from Avène,” says Dr. Gohara. “It’s not just about [already] hydrated skin, but also soothes the tightness and discomfort common with dehydrated skin, thanks to the brand’s best healing aid: hot spring water.
Again, however, do not accept my word. Browse any website where this product is available for purchase and there will be dozens of pages with glamorous reviews.
A critic at Dermstore notes that this serum ensures that it does not wake up “feeling like a piece of luggage from the 1970s” and has helped restore its moisture barrier so that it can use AHA and retinol. Another on Amazon says: “I have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin with large pores, but I still need hydration and this product works perfectly on its own and under foundation.”
Another in Ulta says: “I have never written a review on my LIFE. I have had red, dry patches with itching around my nose for months. I tried every product you can think of and bought it today. I used it after washing my face and the redness around my nose is gone. I REPEAT GONE. I HAVE SENSITIVE DRY PEELING AND THIS PRODUCT SAVED MY LIFE. DISPOSABLE. “And there you have it. The case is closed. Buy the serum.
