If you are experiencing acne, chances are you have more than one pimple to manage at a time. And when you’re in the middle of an intense outburst, individual pimples are probably not going to cut it. The Mighty Patch Face ($ 18) includes five large-scale patches for pimples that hit key acne zones: the t-zone (forehead and nose), your chin and your cheeks. You can trim them to fit your face and use them all together or choose the one you need based on your current start.

Just like the other, more targeted patches of the brand, they are made of thin hydrocolloid material (the same material you will find in a blister bandage), which gently shrinks your pimples without the need for cracking. According to Hadley King, MD, a certified dermatologist based in New York, hydrocolloid patches work best on superficial pimples such as white spots or blisters.

“The hydrocolloid sheet works by absorbing excess fluid and this removes oil and dirt from the pimple,” Dr. King previously told Well + Good. “They generally do not dry out the skin and leave it to peel off, like the more classic acne treatments that contain salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.”

But, keep in mind that if you have so many pimples that you need a set of patches for the whole face, you also want to work with a dermatologist to find the best preventative measures.

“Spot treatment is fine, but you’ve already lost the battle,” Dennis Gross, MD, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare. “The important thing is to use something all over your face on a regular basis, at least in areas where you are prone to acne from the start.”

To use the Mighty Patch Face set, start by washing your face. The brand also recommends exfoliation to help loosen the shell. Next, make sure your skin is completely dry and apply the patches. Leave them on for six to eight hours – no more, as this can lead to irritation. Unlike a more indistinguishable pimple for pimples, you probably will not want to wear them. Therefore, put them to bed and you will wake up with clearer and clearer skin.
